2023 stats and challenges

Still working on my next post but decided to do a little info on something that is big for me and that is my gaming stats.

I started officially tracking my stats in 2018 and have gotten a little more in depth as the years have gone on using BG Stats app.

A few baseline numbers for me:

1966 plays, 372 plays

My most played games are

Keyforge 121

Splendor 61

Azul 44

Kingdomino 43

My city 40

H index 20

I also love using the app to track my personal gaming challenges which I will also talk about here.

For the month of February 2023 I had a slow month of gaming

Plays 34, games 22, New to me games 9

Deduction games have been the theme of my year and February kept that trend going with 3 games of Decorum and a game of Cryptid, both which are new plays to me.

This year I went a little stronger into my gaming challenges, pushing my limits from last year with higher targets and a larger variety of tasks.

I am behind the pace of my 800 plays for the year but that usually is normal as the summer months lead to more game nights during the week with higher game counts.

One that I have done 2 years in a row is 50 new to me games, 2 times each. I succeeded last year and am off to a good start this year with 12 games already played twice. I chose 2 plays as I feel it's difficult to judge a game on a single play, making 2 attempts allows for at least a basic assessment of the game.

The toughest challenge I took on this year is to play 100 games off my shelf of opportunity (games had to have been purchased before 2023 started), I chose the caveat of pre 2023 as last year when I tried, most of the games played were new purchases so it was no real assessment of me cashing in on my opportunities. Thus far I have succeeded 9 times removing a game from the shelf, well behind the pace but it just makes for more of a challenge for the year.

I started the BG Stats hard-core alphabet challenge (play a game starting with each letter but must be done in order) and have completed E. For this one I might try to finish it a couple times this year, but undecided.

The final challenge is a gaming cues challenge from a content creator on tik tok @playin_a_round which is 100 game ideas that you try to check off. I haven't updated in a little while but I am doing the hard-core mode (each game can only be used once) and had checked off around 39 of the 100 cues. There are some that will be tougher for me but I will set aside the time and planning to get them done.

I guess I had a lot more to say about stats and challenges for 2023. Next month it will be a more concise post as everything will have been explained.

Until next time,
